Sakai Port Festival (Sakai Minato Matsuri) 2026

Why You Should Visit

A free, one-day harbor festival at the Toretore-ichi grounds of Sakai Deshima Fishing Port, now in its 53rd edition. The highlights are two boat rides: a trial voyage on a Japan Coast Guard patrol vessel for pairs of an elementary school child and a guardian, and a roughly 50-minute cruise around Sakai Port. Both are first-come, first-served at the main reception on the day. The stage has street performance, a balloon and bubble show, taiko drumming and a closing bingo game. Admission is free.

About 10 min walk west from Minato Station (Nankai Main Line). Parking is limited, so visitors are asked to come by train or bus.

TICKETS / REGISTRATION

Both the patrol boat trial voyage and the Sakai Port cruise are first-come, first-served at the main reception on the day (no advance booking). Registration closes when full.
- Patrol boat trial voyage: 10 pairs per run (one elementary school child + one guardian)

- Registration opens at 10:00 for the 1st run and 12:30 for the 2nd

FAQ

Do I need to book the patrol boat or the cruise?

There is no advance booking; both are first-come, first-served at the main reception on the day. Registration opens at 10:00 (1st run) and 12:30 (2nd run). The patrol boat takes 10 pairs (elementary school child + guardian) per run and the cruise 80 people per run, closing when full.

Is it held in the rain?

It goes ahead in the rain, though some content may change. It is cancelled if a storm warning is issued.

Can I come by car?

Parking is limited, so visitors are asked to come by train or bus. It is about 10 min on foot from Nankai Minato Station and about 5 min from the Ohama-minamimachi bus stop (Nankai Bus).
