Why You Should Visit
A two-day festival of Japanese and Filipino cultural exchange on the plaza in front of Sakai City Hall, organised by the Sakai Philippine Exchange Association with backing from the City of Sakai. The stage mixes folk dance, hip-hop and demonstrations of arnis, the Filipino martial art, alongside live sets from Japanese artists popular in the Philippines such as fuyu and Fumiya & Yukan. Food stalls serve Filipino home cooking, grilled inasal and ube pies, and there are stalls selling Asian crafts and clothing. Admission is free and the venue is right by the station.
