Why You Should Visit

A rare chance to see Japan's top sumo wrestlers up close as the Grand Sumo winter tour comes to Nishinomiya. Unlike the official tournaments, the day mixes open morning practice, a hair-tying demonstration, the comedic 'shokkiri' bout, sumo folk songs, handshake sessions and photo opportunities — all bringing the rikishi within arm's reach. You still get the real spectacle too, from the ring-entering ceremonies to the closing bow-twirling ritual. Great for first-time spectators.
