Why You Should Visit

Billed as one of Shiga's biggest coffee festivals and nicknamed "Otaga-san", this two-day event brings 27 roasters and drink stands from Japan, Australia and Thailand to Yui no Mori Park in Taga, including a Thai coffee champion. The highlight is the tasting format: you carry an original milk bottle and each shop pours you a small measure. There is also a market, food trucks, street performers and a pet Halloween walk. Entry is free, and the roughly 15-minute route from the car parks and station is promoted as a "sanpo" (stroll) path, so it suits anyone who wants to wander autumn Taga with a coffee in hand.
