Why You Should Visit

A summer festival held each year in Nishiwaki, the city that marks the "navel of Japan" where 135°E and 35°N meet. Nihon-no-Heso Park fills with a stage and around 100 food stalls, and from late afternoon kids can enjoy goldfish scooping and giant bubbles. The finale is a burst of about 2,000 fireworks from around 7:50 pm. With JR Nihon-no-Heso Park Station right next door, it's an easy fireworks night to reach by train — a good pick for families wanting a summer festival and fireworks in one trip to North Harima.

Admission is free. Food and games at the stalls are paid individually.

Around 2,000 shells are planned from about 7:50 pm. The festival itself starts at 4:30 pm.

What happens if it rains?

The cancellation call is made at 7:00 am on the day and finalised by 11:00 am, with no rain date. Check Nishiwaki City's announcements if the weather looks doubtful.
