Venue & access: Midosuji Avenue (Hanshin-mae to Namba-Nishiguchi intersections), Kita-ku / Chuo-ku, Osaka Right outside Shinsaibashi Station on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line (Umeda, Yodoyabashi, Hommachi and Namba stations are also along the route). By car, Midosuji is one-way southbound; use nearby paid parking.

There are 12 car parks within a 12-minute walk of Midosuji Avenue (Hanshin-mae to Namba-Nishiguchi intersections), Kita-ku / Chuo-ku, Osaka, and 4 public restrooms within 8 minutes. The map shows each with its walking time.

Why You Should Visit

Every winter, the roadside trees along Midosuji, Osaka's main boulevard, light up for about 4 km from Umeda down to Namba. The display holds a world record as the longest tree-lined street illumination, with each section glowing in a different color scheme. As a core program of Osaka Hikari-Kyoen 2026, it runs nightly from November 3 to New Year's Eve, and you can enjoy it simply by walking the street. It sits right on the shopping and dining strip, so it works well as an after-work stroll or the end of a date.

Do I need a ticket or reservation?

No. It is a street-tree illumination on a public road, so anyone can see it for free by walking along Midosuji during lighting hours.

How long does it take to walk the whole route?

The route is about 4 km from Umeda to Namba; allow roughly 1 to 1.5 hours if you stop for photos. Walking just one stretch, such as Yodoyabashi to Shinsaibashi, is also a good option.

Is it lit on rainy days?

It is a permanent outdoor installation and normally stays lit in the rain. Check the official website or social media for severe-weather updates.
