Why You Should Visit

A farm-direct day inside the arcade of Marugo Ichiba, a Nagata neighbourhood market that opened in 1918. Natural-farming growers from Kobe's Nishi Ward bring in freshly harvested seasonal vegetables, along with homemade sweets and preserves. Unlike a supermarket run, you can ask the growers themselves how the produce was raised and how best to cook it. Quantities are limited and stalls close once they sell out, so earlier in the day means more choice — and you can browse the market's long-standing shops while you are there.

Dates: In October 2026 the sale runs twice, on Monday 5 and Monday 26 October, billed as a pop-up sale at Marugo Ichiba. The August edition, held on Wednesday 19 August, went by the name Maru-Choku. The day of the week varies, and the participating farms can change.
