Why You Should Visit
Maruyanagi Ogurayama, a Kobe maker known for steamed beans and tsukudani, hosts a two-day summer festival at Mamemugi Marche on the ground floor of its Higashinada headquarters. Expect sweets made only for these two days — baby castella with barley flour, chilled barley zenzai, soft-serve topped with beans — plus old-school festival games like string-pull lottery and toy scooping. A free bingo game starts at 11:30 on both days, and the shop runs special discounts on its regular products. A small, neighborhood-scale summer festival that works well with kids.
