Why You Should Visit

For five days only, the Kyoto Railway Museum displays the KRC810N, a railway crane car owned by JR East. It is the first time a JR East vehicle has been shown at the museum. The KRC810N is a mobile crane that runs on the tracks: it can lift heavy loads level even in tight spots under overhead wires, and is used for overnight work such as replacing switches and bridge girders. It stands on the first floor of the main building, with panels and videos of the crane and construction work also planned. A rare close look at a maintenance vehicle you rarely get to see, ideal for rail fans and families with train-loving kids.

NOTE
