Sato Park Day: Stork Park Backstage Open 2026

Price & booking: Free admission (free parking). The announcement does not list a fee for the backyard guided tour. Only the backyard guided tour requires advance booking (phone 0796-23-5666 or email regist@satokouen.jp). Everything else is drop-in.
Venue & access: Hyogo Park of the Oriental White Stork By car, about 20 minutes from Tajima Airport IC on the Kitakinki-Toyooka Expressway. By bus, take a Zentan Bus from JR Toyooka Station to the "Konotori no Sato Koen" stop (infrequent service).

Why You Should Visit

For two days, the Hyogo Park of the Oriental White Stork in Toyooka opens the breeding and research areas that are normally off-limits. In the morning you can walk past the cages where storks are raised for release into the wild, and around 11:00 you can watch a feeding. In the administration and research building, veterinarians explain how the birds' health is managed, using the real X-ray and anesthesia equipment. A quiz rally around the grounds makes it easy to bring kids along. A good outing for anyone curious about how Japan brought the oriental white stork back to the wild.
