Why You Should Visit

A one-day festival held in mid-October, when roughly 100,000 cosmos flowers on Cosmos Hill at Kobe Sports Park reach full bloom. The hill, a 40,000 m² slope below Universiade Memorial Stadium, turns pink and white, and on a clear day you can see the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge from the top. The day includes a quiz stamp rally, live music from 11:00, a kids' play corner with colouring and fishing games, free herbal tea, a marche with food stalls and kitchen cars, and cosmos lei-making. Admission is free, making it an easy outing for families who want to relax among the flowers.

Admission is free and no reservation is needed. Only the lei-making workshop costs ¥500.
What happens if it rains?
In case of rain the festival is postponed to the next day, Sunday, October 18 (lei-making is cancelled in rain). The decision is announced on the official website.
Is it suitable for children?
Yes. There is a play corner with colouring, origami, a fishing game and soap bubbles, plus a stamp rally, so much of the programme is aimed at children. Picnic rugs can be borrowed for free.
When are the cosmos at their best?
They usually peak from mid to late October. You can visit freely throughout October, and the rug rental and bingo run until the end of the month.
