Why You Should Visit

Students from Kobe Gakuin University's Department of Social Disaster Prevention team up with the Japan Self-Defense Forces and Kobe Toyopet for a hands-on disaster-preparedness day at AEON Mall Kobe Minami. You can try CPR and AED practice, rope work and making an improvised stretcher, while outdoors there are jet-shooter fire extinguishing, SDF vehicles on display and uniform try-ons. A quiz rally runs across several floors of the mall. Admission is free and no booking is needed, so it is easy to drop in while shopping with the kids.

FAQ

Do I need to book or pay?
Admission is free and no reservation is needed. Some activities are first come, first served with limited capacity, and the preparedness certificate is limited to the first 100 families.
Can I join with small children?
The programme is mainly aimed at children. Preschool children need a guardian with them for some activities. Everything takes place inside a shopping mall, so it is easy to get around with a stroller.
What happens if it rains?
The indoor programmes (Umaichi Court, Minato Court and AEON Hall) run regardless of the weather. No official information has been given about the outdoor SDF activities and vehicle display at the Canal Promenade and bus parking area, so check the AEON Mall Kobe Minami website on the day.
