Why You Should Visit

At Kinpusen-ji on Mt. Yoshino, the three hidden principal images of Zao Gongen enshrined in the Zaodo main hall go on view for a limited time. Normally kept behind closed doors, they are shown in spring and autumn to raise funds for the major restoration of the temple's National Treasure Niomon Gate. The autumn viewing runs from October 24 to November 30. During the same period, the Honjido inner hall behind the Zaodo hosts "Kojin wo Omou", an exhibition of paintings by artist Daiji Matsuda. If you are heading to Yoshino this season, it is a chance to see images that are usually hidden.
