From Kintetsu Shin-Hosono or JR Hosono station (west exit, stop 1), take Nara Kotsu bus route 36, 56 or 59 (about 15 min) to the ATR stop. By car, about 5 minutes from Seika-Gakken IC on the Keinawa Expressway.

TICKETS / REGISTRATION

Advance registration is required. Register the lead visitor and group size on the registration form to receive a QR code for check-in on the day. For the science show and workshops marked 'advance lottery', choose them in the same form (lottery-only applications are not accepted). Only winners are notified by email, by Monday 26 October.

• Track down a lying spy by interviewing foreigners with the 'World Link' translation watch (NICT)
• Walk through a 3D digital twin as an avatar (NICT, age 10+)
• Virtual animals in XR, solar flares and auroras, and a robot that can 'see' radio waves (NICT)
• A conversation game with a trio of friendly robots (RIKEN Guardian Robot Project)
• An incense card game about putting scents into words (Shoyeido), a 3-minute wearable rest device (NAIST) and more

Drop-in experiments

• Experiments on keeping homes cool (Sekisui House)
• 'Tea science lab': see caffeine crystals under a microscope (Fukujuen, grade 5 to junior high)
• Make a scope that splits light into rainbow colours (QST Kansai Institute for Photon Science)
