Why You Should Visit

The biggest festival in Seika, the town at the heart of Kansai Science City (Keihanna), held every autumn. In 2026 it takes place on Sunday 15 November, centred on the lawn at Keihanna Commemorative Park. Food stalls and panel exhibitions line the grounds, and the lawn hosts the 23rd Gakken Music Street, with brass bands, choirs and dance groups taking the stage. Suikeien, the park's Japanese water garden that normally charges admission, opens free of charge for the day. Visitors come from across Kyoto as well as Osaka and Nara — an easy day out for families.

From JR Hosono or Kintetsu Shin-Hosono stations, take a Nara Kotsu bus (about 10 min) to 'Keihanna Kinen Koen' or 'Koen Nishi-dori'. The park car park is closed to general vehicles that day for extra buses; drivers use the car parks designated by the festival committee.

Is admission free?

Entry is free, and Suikeien garden, which normally charges admission, is free that day. You pay at each food stall.

Is there parking?

The park car park is closed to general vehicles because of the extra buses. Use the car parks designated by the festival committee; visitors are asked not to park at nearby shops.

Does it go ahead in the rain?

In 2025 it went ahead in light rain. Check Seika Town's announcements for the 2026 wet-weather policy.
