Why You Should Visit
A two-day event run by the Nishijin Textile Industrial Association that fills the whole Nishijin Textile Center. On the 5th and 6th floors, the "2026 Nishijin Textile Convention" shows obi, kimono, kinran brocade and neckties. On the 1st and 2nd floors, craftspeople demonstrate the preparatory processes, and weavers work hand looms in the nishiki and tsumekaki tapestry techniques. The main exhibits are free, and the 4th-floor "Ori no Shigoto Haku" offers paid hands-on workshops with no booking needed. A good fit if you want to follow how Nishijin silk goes from thread to cloth.
