Why You Should Visit
Once a year, the research institutes, hospitals, universities and companies of the Kobe Biomedical Innovation Cluster on Port Island open their doors to the public on the same day. About 20 organizations run facility tours, hands-on experiments, exhibits, health checks and seminars, all free of charge. The lottery-based hospital tours have closed, but many programs need no booking, from microscope viewing and supercomputer exhibits to health measurements and a puzzle hunt across the whole area. RIKEN's areas, including the Fugaku supercomputer tour, require advance online registration. A good day out for families with school-age kids curious about science, and for adults who want a look inside real medical and research facilities.
