Why You Should Visit

A two-day fair celebrating Hyogo's local crafts and traditional industries, held in the lobby of Kobe Portopia Hotel. Makers of Banshu-ori textiles, Tamba cloth, Tamba-Tachikui pottery, matches, and Kobe Tartan gather for displays, sales, and hands-on workshops. Try decorating a matchbox, crafting a Banshu-ori accessory, or making a pottery-shard keyring — most activities are easy for kids. A good rainy-day, indoor outing and a fit for summer holiday craft projects.

Entry to the venue (the hotel's 1F lobby) is free. Each workshop has its own fee (200–2,500 yen).

Can children take part?

Many activities — such as decorating a matchbox or making an accessory — are easy for children, and work well for summer holiday craft projects.

Do workshops need a reservation?

No reservation needed. Sign-up for each workshop is handled on the day at that booth. Some activities run on one day only, so it helps to check the dates in advance.
