Why You Should Visit

The third edition of a craft-beer garden that appears on the approach path of Ikuta Shrine in Sannomiya for just three days, timed with the shrine's autumn festival. From 16:00 to 22:00 on 20–22 September, the line-up changes daily: five or six Kobe breweries and taprooms, nine to eleven food stalls and one bar each day. Beer comes from NAMI NO OTO, ÉBIR, Tsukarenaosu, Paint Palette and others; food ranges from venison and eel rice burgers to spice curry, yakiniku, grilled saury and Korean nakkopse. Calligrapher Araccho performs all three days. It runs separately from the shrine rites and Noh, and is an easy walk from Sannomiya Station after work.

FAQ

Is there an entry fee?
Entry is free; you buy beer and food at each stall. Beer prices and whether tickets are used are not stated in the announcement.
Are the same stalls there every day?
No — the line-up changes daily. Only Rokumeisaryu (venison), Maruman (mazesoba), Suminohino Tomo (eel) and calligrapher Araccho appear all three days; the breweries rotate. Use the date tabs in the stall list.
Is this separate from the shrine's autumn festival?
Yes — this is a volunteer-run beer garden on the approach path, separate from the shrine rites, Noh and gagaku held in the grounds. Those are covered on the 'Ikuta Shrine Autumn Festival' page.
