Why You Should Visit
A two-day festival run by students of Kyoto University of the Arts, which drew about 17,000 visitors last year. This year's theme is "Danshin – Dancing". On October 31 the campus theatre Shunjuza, a professional venue with more than 800 seats, stages "Circus Book", an original play that 49 students have been rehearsing since July, with free admission. The campus also hosts the festival's famous student-made haunted house "Hai Ryokan", around 100 stalls selling one-off student artworks and goods, and a campus-wide exhibition of student work from every department. Entry is free and no booking is needed for general visitors, so it suits art shoppers and families alike.
