Why You Should Visit

BMSG — the label and agency behind BE:FIRST and HANA — marks its 6th anniversary by turning shop shutters into murals in three Japanese towns. In Kobe the venue is Shin-Nagata's Honmachisuji and Rokkenmichi shopping streets, where mural artists BAKIBAKI (Osaka), Yoka Paint and SRB (Okinawa) paint shutters of vacant shops with portraits of eight BMSG artists: KAIRYU, NAOYA and SEITO of MAZZEL, NAOKO, YURI and MOMOKA of HANA, ADAM of STARGLOW, and Fumino. Point your phone at a shutter and the artist opens it on screen, launching a song, dance or talk clip made for that spot. The AR runs 11:00–19:00 daily until Sep 27; the murals stay up until Oct 9. It is free to walk through and runs alongside sister sites in Aichi and Fukuoka.

FAQ

Do I need a ticket?
No. The murals are on shutters along public shopping streets, so there is no admission and no opening hours — except the AR videos, which only run 11:00–19:00 daily until Sep 27. The organiser asks that you avoid late-night and early-morning visits.
Which artists are painted at the Kobe venue?
Eight artists: KAIRYU, NAOYA and SEITO of MAZZEL, NAOKO, YURI and MOMOKA of HANA, ADAM of STARGLOW, and Fumino. SKY-HI and the BE:FIRST members are assigned to the Aichi and Fukuoka venues.
Where do I get the sticker?
Some shops on the streets hand them out, one per person, until they run out. The official site does not say which shops, so ask the event staff on site. The organiser asks that you not contact the shops or street associations directly.
Can I see it in the rain?
Yes — both Honmachisuji and Rokkenmichi are covered arcades, so you can walk them without an umbrella.
