Why You Should Visit

Aridagawa's autumn town market, held at Arida Chuo High School and now in its 5th year in 2026. Seventy-two shops and groups take part, and it runs alongside the school's own produce show, with every student involved. The stage has taiko, a wind band and a concert by special supporter singer Akari Yamanishi, plus mandarin contests anyone can join: guessing the weight and peeling the longest strip of skin. Work vehicles on display and a bubble show make it an easy day out with kids. In the evening, the Tenku Emaki fireworks go up at the same time from several spots around the town.

From 9:00 to 16:30, the junction north of the main gate is closed to traffic. No street parking
No drinking or smoking on school grounds

At the venue

Stall quiz: pick up an answer sheet at the HQ tent, collect answers around the stalls and enter for prizes
A time capsule buried in 2006 is opened in the gym (former students from that year are invited)

Tenku Emaki fireworks

Wakayama's only area-wide fireworks, launched at the same time from several spots in town (about 10 minutes)
No dedicated viewing area or parking. No fireworks near Kanaya Bridge
Launch sites may change depending on weather and river conditions

Does it go ahead in the rain?

It goes ahead in light rain and is cancelled in stormy weather. Some content may change in light rain.

Where can I watch the fireworks?

They are launched from five spots around Aragijima & Hananosato Park, Tadono Nyu Shrine and Tadono Bridge. There is no dedicated viewing area or parking, so find a spot near one of the launch sites. None are launched near Kanaya Bridge.

Is there anything for kids?

There is a work-vehicle display and a bubble show. The mandarin weight-guessing and peeling contests on stage are open to visitors.
