Why You Should Visit

An autumn harvest festival in Kudoyama, the town linked to the samurai Sanada Yukimura, starring its famous Fuyu persimmons. 2026 is the 18th edition. Local farmers line up Fuyu persimmons and fresh produce on the lawn of the Kaki-no-Sato Kudoyama roadside station, and apples are shipped direct from sister city Ueda in Nagano. Prize-winning persimmons from the judging contest are sold on the 14th only, and the 15th has a persimmon-peeling contest. With stage shows including the Sanada samurai troupe and taiko drumming, it makes a good family outing in persimmon season.
