Why You Should Visit

A two-day hands-on event at Wakayama Castle Hall where local makers of lacquerware, knitwear, metal parts, chemicals and more run workshops built on their own techniques. In 2026, 16 groups take part with 26 activities, from making a leather wallet and sewing a sweatshirt on an industrial machine to finishing Kishu lacquerware, building monsters from sheet-metal scraps and planing chopsticks with a carpenter's tool. You work alongside the makers themselves, which makes it a good way for families to see what Wakayama's factories actually do.
