Why You Should Visit

An annual fair, now in its 38th year, for getting hands-on with forests and wood. Kema Sakuranomiya Park and the adjacent Sakuranomiya Joint Government Building along the Okawa river host woodcraft workshops, stalls selling wooden goods and regional timber products, farm-direct persimmons, pears and game meat, plus food trucks. Around 40 exhibitors take part, from forest cooperatives and NPOs to universities and prefectural offices across the Kinki region. Many booths let children saw logs or play with wooden blocks; entry is free, with a mix of free and paid activities. The Tenma Music Festival runs the same day, so it pairs well with a riverside stroll.
