Why You Should Visit
A yosakoi dance festival spread across Rinku Town in Izumisano, Osaka. Started in 2004, this 22nd edition brings around 100 teams and some 3,000 dancers from across Japan, performing from morning to evening on seven stages, including the seaside Rinku Park and shopping-centre plazas. In the evening the main stage hosts Honiya, two-time grand-prize winner at Kochi's Yosakoi Festival, and the day closes with a mass group dance. The night before, an eve festival is held in front of the main hall of Myokoji temple. Good for wandering between stages and seeing the costumes and naruko clappers up close.
