Why You Should Visit
A one-day event from Sansaitsumi, a joint project of Kobe's Suma, Nagata and Tarumi wards. Okusuma Park in Tainohata becomes a classroom for nine "town lessons": leaf-print stamp carving, bamboo dragonflies, local geology, free-verse poetry, a seasonal nature hunt and more. On the same day there are guided walks from Shioya and Maruyama to the venue, drop-in workshops for map-making and philosophy chats, talks with local guests, and a picnic market run by groups from the three wards. Everything is free; the lessons and walks need advance booking on a first-come basis. A good pick for families who want to get to know western Kobe on foot.
