Why You Should Visit

Ozo Festa brings the produce and folk performing arts of Ozo-cho, a farming village in the hills of Kita-ku, Kobe, to an indoor court at AEON Mall Kobe-kita. Farmers sell vegetables and rice grown in Ozo-cho, a local lion dance (shishimai) is performed, and there is a zeni-daiko show, a dance with coin-filled bamboo rattles that visitors can also try. There is a workshop for children, and entry is free. Because it sits inside the mall, it is an easy stop for families curious about rural Kobe's food and traditions.

FAQ

Is there an admission fee?
No, entry is free. You only pay for the vegetables and rice you buy.
Does it go ahead if it rains?
Yes. The venue is an indoor court inside the shopping mall, so the weather does not affect it.
What is zeni-daiko?
It is a folk-performance prop: a bamboo stick fitted with old coins that rattles as dancers shake and strike it. After the performance, visitors can try it themselves.
