Why You Should Visit

An early-evening market in the station plazas of the Kobe Electric Railway (Shintetsu), where farmers from Kobe's Kita and Nishi wards sell their own vegetables and fruit. Run by the City of Kobe for stations with no supermarket nearby, the 2026 season moves between Hanayama, Oshibedani, Oike, Dojo-Minamiguchi and Maruyama stations on weekday evenings through March 2027, with Hanayama hosting most often. Look for bargain misshapen produce and "rescue vegetables" — assorted bags of vegetables that would otherwise go to waste — and chat with the growers as you shop. Handy for picking up dinner ingredients on the way home.
