Why You Should Visit

Tokyo's Ebisu sake-walk event comes to Osaka for the first time. Brewers from 30 sake breweries across Japan staff about 30 restaurants and pop-up venues in Edobori, Kyomachibori and Yodoyabashi, and you roam with a guide map, tasting around 100 sakes with food pairings and flights. Restaurants serve sake-plus-dish sets, while the pop-up venues offer one-ticket tastings and bottles to buy; talking directly with the makers is the point. Everything is within walking distance of Higobashi, Yodoyabashi and Hommachi stations, so it suits anyone who wants a slow Saturday afternoon of sake hopping.

FAQ

Do I need an advance ticket?
Day-of sets are available, but advance sets are 500 yen cheaper and limited to the first 1,000. Once they sell out only day-of sets remain, so buy in advance if you are sure you are going.
How far do 11 tickets go?
About three restaurant pairing sets (from 3 tickets each), or more brands if you mix in one-ticket tastings at the pop-up venues. If you plan to hop from the start, the 22-ticket DX set works out cheaper.
Can a non-drinking companion join?
Only those who taste need a cup (participant pass). Non-drinkers need not buy one, and tickets can be shared with companions.
What if it rains?
It goes ahead rain or shine. The venues are restaurants and indoor pop-up spaces, so an umbrella is all you need.
