Why You Should Visit

A four-day noodle festival run by Kansai TV in Osaka's Ogimachi Park, built around "haitoku" (guilty-pleasure) bowls loaded with back fat, garlic, mayonnaise and cheese. Twenty ramen shops take part, from Osaka, Kyoto, Hyogo and Wakayama as well as Tokyo, Saitama, Aichi, Aomori, Ehime and Kumamoto, serving mazesoba, soupless ramen, abura soba, tantanmen and more side by side. Five food trucks add fried rice, karaage and parfaits. Entry is free and you pay for food at each booth; a priority-lane pass is also sold. A good stop if you want to hop between several rich, heavy bowls in one afternoon.
