Why You Should Visit

For one day in December, 43 small stalls selling picture books, handmade goods and sweets fill the second-floor entrance hall of the Nara Prefectural Library and Information Center. The market also features a display of classic Christmas picture books and hands-on workshops for parents and children. On the same afternoon, the library's first-floor hall hosts a winter storytime that pairs picture-book readings with live guitar (registration required). It's all indoors, so it works in any weather — a cozy pick for families who enjoy books and a bit of Christmas shopping.
