Right by Nijojo-mae Station on the Subway Tozai Line (from Kyoto Station, change at Karasuma Oike). By car: Nijo Castle Parking Lot 1 (¥600/40 min, ¥1,800 daily max; entry until 21:00; in November ¥700/40 min, ¥2,800 max).

There are 3 car parks within a 12-minute walk of Nijo Castle (Former Imperial Villa Nijo-jo), and 3 public restrooms within 8 minutes. The map shows each with its walking time.

TICKETS / REGISTRATION

Tickets are sold through ticket agencies and at 7-Eleven, Lawson, FamilyMart and Ministop nationwide. Early-bird pricing ends 23:59 on Thu Oct 22. No date changes, cancellations or refunds after purchase except for organizer-side cancellation.

NOTE

Route highlights: Karamon gate (Important Cultural Property), "Introduction – Meeting Masako", Ninomaru Palace carriage porch and Ohiroma front, Ninomaru Garden (Special Place of Scenic Beauty), Koun-tei, Seiryu-en, the inner moat and the kitchen forecourt. Japanese/English audio guide available.

Discounts: Kyoto City residents and students (high school and up) get ¥500 back at a booth after entry, on the day only, with ID or student card. Disability discount (high school and up): Mon–Thu ¥800 early / ¥1,000 regular, Fri–Sun & holidays ¥1,000 / ¥1,200, for the holder and one carer.

Set tickets: with NIWA; with NAKED GARDEN NIGHTS Higashi Honganji Shosei-en; with Nidec Kyoto Tower (adults only); a limited "named lantern" ticket supporting Kyoto heritage preservation.

Notes: open daily; held in rain, may be cancelled in severe weather (announced on the official site and X @nijojo_autumn26). Entry may be restricted when crowded; last entry 21:00 but the line may close earlier. Elementary students cannot enter alone; junior high age and under should be accompanied by an adult. Nijo Castle passes (annual passport etc.) are not valid. No tripods/monopods, no pets. Some paid content inside.

Parking: Lot 1 8:15–22:15 (entry until 21:00), 120 cars (54 in Oct–Nov). Lot 3 20 cars, ¥1,000 for 2 hours then ¥200/hour. Bicycle/motorbike parking available.
