Why You Should Visit
Kobe stationery store Nagasawa Bungu Center opens the new year with a three-day pen sale in Stella Hall on the third floor of Kobe Kitano Nosta. The focus is on wooden-barrel pens and mechanical pencils, with ten exhibitors in total, from small woodworking studios to stationery makers. Inside the venue, Kobo Setsu, a woodworking studio from Hashima in Gifu Prefecture, holds its own sale, which is by advance lottery via return postcard. The Pen Festival itself is free and needs no reservation, so it suits anyone who wants to hold wooden pens in hand before choosing one.
