Why You Should Visit

For two days only, nine temples and shrines scattered across the old castle town of Yamato-Koriyama open to visitors without a reservation, including temples that normally require one. Drop in any time between 10:00 and 15:00. Each of the nine sites issues its own limited goshuin (72 per site), and finishing the castle-town stamp rally earns a limited-edition can badge. Two free guided tours run on application: a three-shrine walk with performers dressed as Queen Himiko on the 24th, and a five-temple tour on the 25th. A good fit for anyone who wants to explore the town linked to Toyotomi Hidenaga on foot.
