Why You Should Visit

A free shogi (Japanese chess) event for children of junior-high age and younger, held at the Space Theater in Kobe Harborland. Now in its 19th year, it is not a tournament but a chance to try shogi: kids can play friendly games against professional players and join a shogi class. There are two levels, Class A for experienced players and Class B for beginners, so even children who have just learned how the pieces move can take part. Entry is by advance registration on a first-come basis.
