Feel a magnitude-7 quake in an earthquake simulator, escape a smoke-filled room, practise with water extinguishers and try being a firefighter. Family workshops on emergency food (allergy-friendly options), disaster pouches, medicinal tea and aromatherapy are partly paid and limited in number, booked in advance. There is also a stamp rally and an exhibition of preparedness ideas. Reachable from Sannomiya by the Port Loop bus, with indoor and outdoor areas, it suits families who want to brush up on preparedness with children.

Entry is free with no booking. Only the paid, limited-number workshops need a Peatix reservation by 16:00 on September 18.

Can I pay by card?

No, the venue is cash only. Bring some small change.

What if it rains?

It goes ahead in light rain. In severe weather some outdoor programmes such as the earthquake simulator may be cancelled; indoor workshops run as planned.
