Why You Should Visit
A sweets festival in Kainan, Wakayama, a city that calls itself the birthplace of mikan oranges and Japanese confectionery, held on the west plaza of JR Kainan Station. This 8th edition runs under the theme "The power of sweets is infinite". The popular Okashi-sea sweets-fishing game now lets you take home everything you catch, and a one-off "8 Challenge" uses Furuta's High-Eight chocolate. There are also shooting and ring-toss stalls, kids' dance and balloon shows on stage, and food trucks, all right outside the station and easy for families to enjoy for an afternoon.
