Why You Should Visit

The annual Reisai rite at Itakiso Shrine in Wakayama City, known as the shrine of the god of trees, held every year on 15 October. At the time of the rice harvest, it gives thanks for the year's blessings, starting at 10:00 in the main hall. The Shinkosai, when the mikoshi travel to the Okumiya (Niu Shrine), takes place separately on the first Sunday after the 15th.
