Why You Should Visit

A hands-on fishermen's market run by Suma's fishermen at their own harbour. Subtitled "linking sea, mountain and town", it fills Higashi-Suma fishing port on the east side of Suma Yacht Harbour with some 20 local food stalls, a fresh-fish market of live octopus and "maemon" catch from nearby waters, a mock auction led by the "fish uncle", cruises around the harbour on working fishing boats, and a giant touch pool you can wade into. It is the Suma leg of Kobe's autumn fishermen's festival across Nagata, Suma and Tarumi; rain moves it to Sunday 18 Oct. Good for families who want to show children what fishermen do.

About a 10-minute walk south of JR Suma-Kaihinkoen Station, on the east side of Suma Yacht Harbour. By car about 5 minutes from the Wakamiya exit of the Hanshin Expressway, but there is no free parking; use nearby paid car parks.

TICKETS / REGISTRATION

No booking to visit. The mock auction and boat cruises are booked on the day at the event HQ (no advance booking). Live octopus and fresh fish sales use numbered tickets. Updates on the official Instagram.

Fishing boat cruises: a lap of the harbour on a working boat, departing every 20 minutes 10:00–16:00; same-day booking only
"Maemon" live octopus and fresh fish: from 10:00 until sold out, numbered tickets
Giant touch pool you can wade into

FAQ

What happens if it rains?

In rain it moves to the next day, Sunday 18 October. The decision is posted on the official Instagram.

Is it good for children?

Yes. The giant touch pool, mock auction, chirimen monster hunt and boat rides are all hands-on, so it suits families.

Can I buy fish to take home?

Yes, live octopus and other fresh seafood are sold. The organiser asks you to bring a cooler bag for the trip home.

Can I book a boat cruise?

There is no advance booking; sign up at the event HQ on the day. Boats leave every 20 minutes from 10:00 to 16:00, so head to HQ first to secure a slot.
