Why You Should Visit
An art fair held inside the halls, study rooms and gardens of three Nichiren temples in Kyoto's Nishijin district — Myokenji, Honpoji and Myokakuji. For its second edition the fair grows from 19 to 33 exhibitors, with a Melbourne gallery joining as the first overseas participant. Works span contemporary art, antiques, crafts, Nordic ceramics and contemporary jewelry, all shown within temple architecture and available to buy. Special programs include a tea gathering overlooking Honpoji's garden and a traditional boat ride at Shoseien. A good pick for anyone who wants temple architecture and art in one visit.
