Why You Should Visit

An annual autumn disaster drill held across HAT Kobe, the waterfront district built after the 1995 earthquake; this is the 11th edition. The main site is around the Disaster Reduction and Human Renovation Institution, with a fire brigade demonstration by the Chuo Fire Station, and the Wakinohama and Nagisa neighborhoods run their own drill events the same day. At Keyaki Plaza in Wakinohama, you can learn about preparedness while trying a soup kitchen cooked on emergency "kamado" benches, kids' firewood chopping and festival games. A stamp rally links the sites, making it an easy half day out for families.
