Why You Should Visit
A free, all-day barefoot playday on the lawns of Honmachi Park in central Wakayama City. Families drift between booths for barefoot running, sprint lessons, ball games, tug-of-war and boxing pad work, with guest supporters including London 2012 relay Olympian Kuki Takumi, Beijing 2008 marathon Olympian Nakamura Yurika and barefoot-running pioneer Yoshino Tsuyoshi. A baby zone staffed by nursery teachers means siblings of very different ages can stay together, and there are market stalls and food trucks too.
