Why You Should Visit
Osaka's Central Wholesale Market in Noda, Fukushima Ward, opened in 1931 and is marking its 95th anniversary with a one-day market festival. The wholesale market, normally open only to trade buyers, welcomes the public for sales of fresh produce and seafood, a live tuna-filleting show, and mock auctions of vegetables and fish. It is a chance to shop for ingredients picked by market professionals and to see what an auction looks like up close — a good morning out for food lovers and families curious about how a big-city market works.
