Venue & access: Honmaru Plaza, in front of Osaka Castle Main Tower About 15–20 min on foot from Exit 1-B of Tanimachi 4-chome Station (Osaka Metro Tanimachi / Chuo lines) or from JR Morinomiya Station. By car, take the Hoenzaka exit of Hanshin Expressway Route 13 to the Osakajo-koen Station car park

Why You Should Visit

A two-day autumn festival on the Honmaru Plaza in front of Osaka Castle's main tower, timed to the tower's 95th birthday on November 7. According to the City of Osaka, the program includes collaborations with castles linked to the Toyotomi brothers Hideyoshi and Hidenaga, plus demonstrations by a matchlock gun corps and samurai war drums. On the 7th, an Osaka jazz brass band plays free anniversary sets, and on both days food trucks add dishes made with produce from Ueda and Nagano to mark 20 years of friendship between Osaka Castle and Ueda Castle. Easy to pair with a visit inside the castle tower.

Do I need a castle tower ticket to see the festival?

No. The events on the Honmaru Plaza can be seen without entering the tower. Entering the tower and the Toyotomi stone-wall museum costs 1,200 yen for adults (free for junior high and under).

What time are the matchlock and war drum demonstrations?

As of October 7 the times have not been announced. Scheduled so far are the anniversary concert on the 7th (10:30, 12:30, 15:00) and the Ueda & Nagano food fair on both days, 9:30–18:00.

Is the autumn festival only on November 7–8?

The wider Osaka Castle Autumn Festival 2026, run by Osaka Castle Park Management, continues in the park from October 9 to November 29, with food trucks and explanatory panels in front of Sakuramon Gate daily 9:30–18:00. The demonstrations and anniversary concert on the Honmaru Plaza are on November 7–8.
