Why You Should Visit

Now in its fifth year, this free, hands-on disaster preparedness event takes over Nagai Park for a day. Kids can crawl through a smoke-filled cardboard maze to get a feel for evacuating, decorate their own emergency whistle and solve a preparedness puzzle trail for a prize. Working vehicles are on show, including excavator test rides, a mini fire engine, an earthquake simulation truck and police vehicles, and the city's environment bureau runs eco-bag making and plastic-bag emergency cooking. A good outing for families who want to rethink how ready they are at home.
