Higashiyama Shotengai — known as "Kobe's kitchen" — turns into a night market on the last Saturday evening of the summer holidays. Fishmongers and delis that normally close at dusk keep their lights on, lining the arcade with their specialties, one-night-only items, and extra festival food stalls. 2026 marks the arcade's 90th anniversary. It's less a shopping trip than a street-food-and-summer-fair evening: wander the covered arcade alongside the locals.
