Price & booking: Advance booking: ¥7,500 for sessions 1 and 2, ¥8,000 for session 3 (¥500 more on the day). Book through the Kyoto City Tourism Association's advance-reservation site (10 people per session, credit card payment). Reservation page
Venue & access: Kyutei Omuro 2 minutes' walk from Omuro-Ninnaji Station on the Randen Kitano Line, or 5 minutes from the Omuro-Ninnaji JR bus stop.

Why You Should Visit

Kyutei Omuro, a registered Tangible Cultural Property just south of Ninna-ji, opens for three days in the autumn-leaf season for small, pre-booked viewings of up to 10 people per session. The director guides you through the house and garden, including the second floor that is normally closed to the public, and matcha with sweets is served; each visitor also receives an original letter pad. The 16:00 session adds the garden light-up. A good choice if you want to see Kyoto autumn colours and a historic residence without the crowds.

FAQ

Can I go without a reservation?

It is pre-booked with 10 people per session. A same-day rate (¥500 extra) exists, but sessions that are fully booked cannot take walk-ins.

Which session includes the light-up?

Only session 3 (16:00–18:00), which costs ¥500 more than the daytime sessions.

Can I drive there?

Parking is not available during the special viewing. The house is 2 minutes' walk from Omuro-Ninnaji Station on the Randen line.
