Why You Should Visit

A family-friendly market run by the Kobe UNESCO Association and its organizing committee under the theme "Smiles for the children who will shape the future." Over two days at Hyogo Prefectural Maiko Park, right beneath the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, around 20 kitchen cars and food tents and about 60 retail and hands-on booths line up each day. Expect festival games like a mini circuit, goldfish scooping and target shooting, resin and crayon workshops, handmade goods and farm-direct produce, plus a free stage with artists and kids' dance acts. Entry is free, making it an easy half-day out on the lawn with children.

About 5 min walk south from JR Maiko Station or Maikokoen Station (Sanyo Electric Railway). Drivers use the paid car parks nearby; public transport is recommended as they fill up.

Entry is free with no reservation needed, and the stage is free to watch. You pay at each booth for food, goods and activities.

It goes ahead in light rain. It is cancelled if strong wind, stormy weather or an all-day rain forecast makes it difficult, or if a weather warning is in effect at 22:00 the night before.

Are there activities for kids?

Yes — a mini circuit for parents and kids, goldfish scooping and target shooting, plus workshops for making crayons and resin accessories. There is also a kids' nail booth.
