Why You Should Visit

Held every year for Foster Care Month by the Family Care Promotion Association and the Kobe Foster Parents Association to introduce foster care. For the 35th edition, Ichiro Harasaka — one of Kobe's first male nursery teachers and a 'child consultant' working nationwide — talks about easing parenting stress and getting kids smiling. After a break, a foster family shares their experience, followed by a quiz on the foster care system. Open to anyone, free, including parents and people who work with children. Childcare is available by reservation.

Speaker

Ichiro Harasaka

Director, KANSAI Kodomo Kenkyujo

13:30 Talk

After graduating from Kansai University, he became one of Kobe's first male nursery teachers. After 25 years in childcare he became a child consultant and now runs parenting-support programs across Japan. The media dubbed his way of getting children smiling in an instant "magic childcare." Also known as "Japan's top kaiju (monster) expert," he has appeared on TV shows such as Matsuko no Shiranai Sekai, and his Sankei Shimbun parenting advice column has run for more than 600 installments.

NOTE

From the organizer (Family Care Promotion Association)

About the event

"Every year during Foster Care Month, together with the Kobe Foster Parents Association, we hold an event to help people learn about foster care. This year, on Tuesday, November 3 (national holiday), we welcome Ichiro Harasaka, who runs parenting-support programs across Japan as a child consultant, to give a talk titled 'Just Listening Makes Parenting More Fun.'

1. No more parenting frustration

2. Parenting becomes fun

3. Children light up with smiles

If that sounds good to you — parents raising children, people who love kids and want to encourage children and parents, people who work with children — anyone is welcome to join!

After a break, there will be a foster parent's story and a fun quiz about the foster care system. We look forward to seeing you."

Organizer's comment

"Parenting can be more fun! Moms and dads who are struggling or frustrated, as well as nursery teachers and teachers, please come and listen!"
